Conducting market research, finding target markets and uncovering competition is the key for success in any business. It is the basic principle in both online and offline business.
You must realize that although you may be an expert on the topic, there might be hundreds of others who have already written E-Books on the exact subject. You must be realistic, know your competition and (if possible) find something to write about that others have not written extensively about.
If that is not possible, you better have a great slant or a different angle or marketing plan – something that really makes your product unique so it stands out from the others.
Know your target market. Who will the potential e-book buyers be and how will you attract them to your website, e-book and material?
Do not create an E-Book about a topic that you are not truly knowledgeable in. I know that may be self-explanatory, but people often like to create E-Books about working online and making big bucks from the Internet.
Oftentimes those people are not quite experts, so they really should not be creating products that they do not know about. Not only is it dishonest, but also people trust you to provide them with quality information – not to deceive them with false promises of success.
