WordPress blog installation is damn easy that even a newbie can install. Just click ‘Install WordPress’ and then follow the simple steps that are displayed on the screen. The most critical part of wordpress installation is to customize it.
Customizing Your Blog:
The first thing we want to change is the theme from the standard blue wordpress one. You can get different themes for free that fit into your market or just something different at the WordPress theme library: http://themes.wordpress.net
Or if you want something special where you can create a full site from WordPress without having to know any coding then you can use WordPress Remix. It is a fantastic tool that is a must have for serious bloggers. You can get more information at http://www.wpremix.com . There are videos and instructions on the site along with a support forum so you’ll be in good hands over there if you want to build full blown authority sites using WordPress.
This is the method I would strongly suggest for your long term blogs. Once you download the files for a new theme you may need to unzip or extract them. This can be done by right clicking on the folder and selecting ‘unzip’ or ‘extract all’. Then after you’ve done this you’ll need to upload this folder into your theme folder.
To upload files to your website you’ll need an FTP. I recommend CoreFTP or Filezilla as it is reliable, virus free and doesn’t cost you a penny. If you download Core ftp or filezilla and open it up. Then you need to put your account details into the program like below:
Then once you’re clicked “Connect” and logged in you need to locate the theme folder on your site by expanding the directories:
Public_html > wp-content > themes And drag the folder into this directory.
Now you need to log-in to your WordPress admin panel to activate the blog theme by going to: http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin (using the log in details you set up in Fantastico) Once in you need to click on the ‘Presentation’ link on the left hand side and then click on the name of the blog theme you’ve just uploaded which will activate the theme. That’s it. For more exclusive information, you can refer to BLOGGING TO THE BANK.
