It’s official now! Google Page Rank is no more metric for search engine ranking. According to Susan Moskwa, Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google Webmaster Central Blog has clarified that one should not be worried about Page Rank.

Gone are the days of PR. Even though Google updates PR of the website every now and then (if not quarterly); it doesn’t use the parameter to track the success of your website. Starting from the year 1998, Google has made several changes to its algorithm finally ending the importance of PR.

Still most of the webmasters are used to spend countless hours on getting good Page Rank. Actually, they were of the opinion that higher page rank would give higher search engine rankings. In reality, the public page rank is quite different from Google algorithmic page rank. Finally, Google has officially made it clear in its Google Webmaster Central BLOG.

Now the question is … If Page Rank is not important then what is important for Google in deciding search engine ranking of a website? To my surprise, Google has answered this query too. According to Google Webmaster Trends Analyst, there about 200 parameters that influence search engine ranking of a website. However, the following parameters are of significant value:

Conversion Rate:

The conversion is one when a visitor visits your site and becomes a successful customer for your business.

Bounce Rate:

If the visitor immediately leaves the site without visiting any other page on your site, then it is referred to as the bounce.

Click through Rate:

By looking at your site in the organic results, the visitor should get a positive impression and thus have a high click through rate.

Mobile Friendly:

Mobile friendliness is the latest addition. That’s the reason Google is pushing all the webmasters to go mobile friendly. IF you want to serve a mobile internet user then you don’t have any other option except to make your website mobile friendly.

With the recent Google update, many webmasters have lost their top rankings. Of course, it happens with every algorithmic change. But this time, it is totally different. It has affected the top article directories too. Some SEO consultants describe it as a slap on content farms but Google has claimed that it has slightly tweaked its algorithm to show quality sites.
