It amazes me how many people never think to put any kind of analytics package on their website. Analytics tells you lot of really important information about the traffic on your affiliate site such as:
- which pages are getting the most traffic
- how people are navigating your site
- where people are clicking.
- how people are finding your site
- where they’re being referred to by
- what keywords people are using
This is all vital information that can help you improve your site by pinpointing possible traffic leaks (where people are leaving your site – other than via affiliate links).
Google Analytics is a highly effective web analytics package, and best of all – it’s free! You just have to place a piece of code on every page of your site. If you’re using WordPress, there are a number of plugins that allow you to install the code on every page automatically. Check out Google Analytics.
Utilizing Tracking:
You can use tracking codes to separate out which sources are sending how much traffic and how they’re converting. To create a tracking ID, you just have to add a small bit to the end of your hoplink. Just check out Long Tail Magic.
Offering Something Extra:
If you’ve gone through everything we’ve talked about, you should be starting to build a really comprehensive website on your favorite niche and perhaps some related products. Now you need to start thinking of ways that you can differentiate yourself from your competition.
There are a number of ways you can do this. You can write reports or eBooks and offer them free to people who purchase through your link; or alternatively, as an incentive for people to subscribe to your email list. Writing an eBook may sound daunting, but just like writing the articles, it just takes a bit of research and hard work, and then you’ve got an asset that you can use to help boost your sales.
Another idea is to get the resale rights for a product that’s in a related field. Resale rights mean that you can resell or give the product away without having to go through the person who made it. It’s a similar principle to private label rights articles, but with digital products. These products make excellent free giveaways with other products and help boost your sales.
