Everybody loves to search Google. Whether it is for personal or official, most of us browser Google. Indeed Google is the most preferred search engine on the net. “+” (plus sign):
If we prefix the keyword with plus sign, then Google returns the results which contain that keyword. For example, +music shows the results that contain the word music in it.
“-” (minus sign):
If we prefix the keyword with minus sign, then Google will show the sites that does not contain that word. For example, -music shows the results that do not contain the word music in it.
“|” (pipe sign):
This means OR. For example, music|movie results in the documents that contain one of those words.
“…” (Quotation mark):
This results in the sites that contain the full phrase. For example, “free music” in Google results in the sites that contain free music.
“~” :
If we use ~ symbol with the word, then it shows similar sites. For example, ~home results in the sites that contain the words similar to home like house, apartment, flat, mansion etc.
“*” (star sign):
It results in wildcard search. For example, *free results in the documents that contain free something line free music, free movies, free software, free ebooks, etc.
site:www.abcxyz.com
This operator results in the pages of the desired site. For example, site:www.onlinedownloads.org will result in the sites that are part of OnlineDownloads.ORG
related:www.google.com
This operator results in the sites that are similar to Google. So the search results in similar sites that you are searching for.
info:www.google.com
This results in the information about the website you are searching for. For example, info:www.google.com will show the information about Google.
cache:www.google.com
This results in the Google cache pages. It is used when the site you are searching for is down; then Google displays the cache pages. It is also helpful when the webmasters lose their site accidentally.
Calculator:
Google has a built in calculator that solves arithmetic problems. It can even solve complex mathematical problems such as 5035+9*9.
Currency Converter:
Google provides you a currency converter in its search box. You can convert USD into GBP, INR into USD and many more.
